Overview:
The conference took place in Tokyo, co-organized by International Quantum Electronic Conference (IQEC) and Pacific Rim Conference on Laser and Electro-Optics (CLEO-PR), in the presence of the Crown Prince of Japan. This occasion marked the 19th IQEC since its first conference held in the US in 1959, and the 6th CLEO-PR since its first conference held in Japan in 1995.These prestigious conferences have attracted many researchers in related fields. This time the conference invited two Nobel laureates, Prof. Emeritus Masatoshi Koshiba and Prof. Z.I. Alferov, as keynote speakers.
Many lectures took place in each of the specialized fields, and in some of them, students who presented excellent papers received the Best Student Paper Award.
The paper entitled "0.5Gbit/s signal transmission in thin-film waveguide with free-space-wave add-drop multiplexers" won the award for its unique and outstanding achievement in the research of installation of optical interconnection to next-generation computers.
